If you visited the Drakes Branch Town Office last week, you might have heard what sounded like jack hammers pounding away in the office council meeting room – and that is because there were jackhammers in use!
Town officials had noted some time ago that a main dividing wall between the town office council meeting room and the Drakes Branch Fire Department building had begun to crack.
Over time, the cracks in the cinder block walls grew larger, and town officials grew concerned that the wall might be at risk for collapsing.
More importantly, they were concerned about the safety of citizens, employees and firefighters utilizing the two buildings separated by that wall.
To ensure the safety of everyone involved in using the two structures, the town hired JES Structural Engineering to perform repairs to the wall.
